State Planning Policy 2.9 Water

In accordance with Part 2, Division 3, Regulation 14(6) of the Planning and Development (State Planning Policies) Regulations 2024, State Planning Policy 2.9 Water was published on 16 December 2025, operational from 18 December 2025, along with the Planning for Water Guidelines.

Planning for Water Guidelines

The review of the water policy suite has been successfully completed.

State Planning Policy 2.9 Water (SPP 2.9), along with the Planning for Water Guidelines was published on 16 December 2025, operational from 18 December 2025.

The new policy and Guidelines, ensures that planning and development considers water resource management, applying appropriate measures to protect water quality and quantity and deliver sustainable outcomes for both water resources and development.
